New relay modules for modern building technology
The demands on technical systems in buildings or in the industrial area are constantly growing and becoming more and more complex. The increasing degree of automation of safety and convenience functions is responsible for this.
In modern building management systems, motion detectors or twilight switches, for example, ensure that lamps are switched as required. Only relays are used in building automation to evaluate the signals. The compact relay modules from METZ CONNECT are not only used for electrical isolation between the control and sensor / actuator levels, but can also reliably switch large loads such as lamp loads, motors and drives thanks to their powerful relays. In addition, their compact design and modular design make them extremely easy to service.
Powerful and high flexibility
The pluggable relays with their stable plug contacts ensure quick and easy installation. The METZ CONNECT RM series is now being expanded to include a 2-changer variant with a switching load of 8A and a 1-changer variant with 16A. All relay types are available with 24V DC, 24V AC and 230V AC control voltage. Two different base designs with screw terminal technology with separate inputs and outputs as well as a socket with connections on both sides offer complete flexibility in the control cabinet. An LED module provides the signaling and clear status display of the relay modules. A labeling field offers enough space for the necessary labeling and documentation.
Inrush variant for high inrush currents
LED lights are extremely energy-saving, but generate inrush currents of up to 100 times the nominal current. The extremely high current with LED lights lasts only a few microseconds. The reason for this are the capacitors in the electronic ballasts (EVGs), which are required to smooth the required DC voltage and as an energy store. For this reason, modern lighting systems not only place high demands on the switchgear but also on the relays used. For such applications, METZ CONNECT offers an inrush relay module for high inrush currents. The special contact design with a leading tungsten contact allows inrush currents of up to 165A (20 ms.) Or 800A (200 μs). The inrush relay is available with a make contact and a coil voltage of 24V DC.
