FO outdoor cables and pre-assembled installation cables (VIK) with outdoor cables
METZ CONNECT has been offering fiber optic outdoor cables by the meter since August. Outside cables, like the well-known universal cables, are available as gel-filled loose tube cables with 1x4, 1x12, 1x24 and 4x12 fibers. As with all METZ CONNECT cables, the fiber types OS2, OM3 and OM4 are insensitive to bending.
Outdoor cables are especially suitable for direct installation in the ground or in earth pipes. This means that larger distances can be bridged with a high transmission bandwidth in the primary area, i.e. for off-site or campus cabling. The cables are UV-resistant, metal-free, longitudinally watertight, tensile and rodent-proof. The outer jacket made of LLDPE guarantees high mechanical and thermal resilience.
These advantages can now also be used with our pre-assembled installation cables (VIK):
Pre-assembled installation cables are fiber optic cables equipped with plugs on one or both sides, which are manufactured to the highest quality standards in manual one-off production at METZ CONNECT in Blumberg.
In combination with external cables, they are suitable for mechanically demanding outdoor applications. They enable a quick and easy to install point-to-point connection of passive and active network components.
In general, it should be noted that outdoor cables are not suitable for use in buildings due to fire protection regulations. If an outdoor cable has to be inserted into a building, the route should only be a few meters long and be secured by fire protection in accordance with local regulations.
